Drawing anything

On this blog/video I am going to talk to you about an activity that I love to do when I have some free time and it is drawing the first thing that goes through my mind. I think it is a kind of OCD or some “fear of emptiness” because is almost involuntary. I am not good paying attention in class so I began to do this when I enter school I think. Anyway, the result is many notebooks with not much notes and full of scrawls.

I do this in any moment and any place (even now hahah). If you look in my notebooks, you can see dinosaurs, psychedelics landscapes, anime characters and other entire abstracts figures, every page, both sides, even in the cover D: . It is a pain in the ass sometimes when I realize that I have used in a couple of days the notebooks that I had supposed to use in the entire semester. I can see two ways that it can help to me (in the life?) First, looking my own sketches y can knowing myself and explain some others psychological behaviors like analyze the dinosaur that I drew ten years ago and the next two hundred dinosaurs and see what changes, in relation of the exterior events of my life (?) . Second, line by line I think, I understand how to draw or better than that, why to draw. I am not sure if I understand the last thing I wrote but I hope you try to do it for me :S

Big chilean artist

This post is a tribute of two big artist of the national scene that inspired me since i read about them when i was a kid.

Sergio Larraín was born in a rich home like the most of Larrain People. This fact allow him to travel around the world and know how the people lives. He always was a mystic man. He was interested in real feelings that he could not experiment normally so he left his house and lived with the poor childrens of the Mapocho river. He made a lot of photographies and was recognited by the Magnum Agency (the best honour of a photographer) and he worked there. His level of empaty helped him to capture very close pictures of people, like one time, when he captures portraits of the sicilian mafia family.  His last days he just left the photography because he found other state of mind and just take pictures of “satoris” or “Ilumination moments”.

A couple of years later, another big artist was born. Claudio Bravo was born in Maipú (maybe) and began drawing at school. I don’t know exactly how, he worked with the Sotheby Gallery and created his famous paintings of packets (a lot of mistery packets closed with all its details). He generally painting still life´s paintings but living in Morocco he worked with the human body too. His style is photorealism but his level of composition or color´s experiment is the thing that make him a great artist. He was always near of the Royalty and his topics tried to be universal. Larraín in other side, talk us about social injustices.  I love both of them but even today i cannot decide who is better :(

A job: Wildlife photographer

Its a little complicated talk about my relation with the architecture at a profesional level, so i am going to talk you about one of my three secret dreams: be a photographer of the wild life. I think this could be an amazing job.  Those kind of photographers travel around the world like freelancers and give to the people their own perspective of the nature, in magazines or documentaries at least. I always ask myself “how they feels while they are making those images” and this job could answer my question.
To be a wildlife photographer  i think i need to be prepared to live with just the mínimum like a hippie (and that is a great wall to get this job because we all are inmersed in other type of relation with the material world). Do not have a stablished house or fresh meal everyday. Be prepared to fight with the weather and learnt to live together with other people from differents cultures. But first, i nedd to understand how works the burocracy in a traveling life. I think i have some competences like that but is not enought L I think i can resist a los of days without sleeping (thanks to FAU) and i have a couple of knownledges about photography or about thinking in a creative way.
It seems a very suffer life, but is only a part of the job. They travel alone but they have friends in all countries they know. I think they can see things that i can even imagine and being capable of understand how the life works like any other.

Environmentally friendly

Is a common thing that our parents or teachers talk us about environmental protect, but I think the real change of our actions comes with a revelation. I remember when I saw for first time the Al Gore’s movie “An inconvenient truth”. It cause a deep impression in me (and in the entire world). Inmediatly, I though in make the difference. I never threw away water again. The same thing with the energy. I couldn´t understand how people turn the light or TVs on and left the room as if nothing had happened. Sometimes I turn those off in secret, when I visit other houses.
If i needed saw a movie to be more environmental friendly…How about the other people? I think the human condition is blind about things that cannot feel directly. The Chilean culture is a TV culture and I remember some advertising about the correct use of the energy, but this format is limitated. The plastic bag’s law is a triumph, but came here so late
The most common things that people recycle is glass and paper but all our activities generate other kind of trash. For example, I buy a lunch every day and the package is bigger than the amount of food. I don’t use straws and every time I keep the plastic bags that sellers give me (In an obligatory way) but life is hard L a couple of days ago my roomie throw away my bag collection and I don’t even had thinking about what to do with those. I know there is a lot of things to do that depends of our level of knowledge and motivation. So, I think I need a new “revelation”. And you?

A manga: Oyasumi Punpun

Two months ago a friend recommended me a manga that I have no idea that exist. He said “this is another kind of manga, you must read it”. I am not a good lector of manga but  I had reading some “seinen” works like “Vagabond” or “Gantz”. Those mangas  in particular have a deep vision of the world and an amazing level of illustration.

The manga is  called “Oyasumi Punpun” (Goodnight, Punpun). Is about a Japanese kid and how he looks the world where he lives. He grows like any other kid, with a particular relationship with his family, the school, his friends and the girls he likes, but the author shows how the kid (Punpun) really see the world and how the dysfunctional environment affects his development. The author use an intense expression in his drawings and this is very beautiful to see. Is like the Pixar’s movie “intensified” but with the Japanese sensibility. In fact, I read its critics and some guys compares it with the master novel “The Catcher in the Rye” of J.D. Salinger.

I loves this manga since the first day. When I was reading it, I remembered how I felt when I has the age of Punpun. The view of  a kid is so different and we don’t think in this fact in our regular days.

La gringa

Hi! Today i will write about my roomie. She is a 22 girl, but is “a little different” I think, because she came from Germany to Chile two weeks ago. Her name is Nora and she comes from Hamburg to finish her studies in social sciences. I think she is a interesting person because she has other rhythm of life totally different to the common chilean guy (me). She sleeps at 10 P.M. and wake up at 7 even when she has nothing to do. She try keeping herself busy the whole day. She reads, cooks, makes pilates and riding in her bicycle while I am sleeping. At the end of the day, she talk me (in English) about her plans of knowing the entire south American continent as she knew the entire Asian and European region. In those two weeks, she has travelled to Valparaíso and Pucón! Can you believe it?

“La gringa” (how we all called her, included herself) is a really curious person and ask me about Chile and its culture. I talked with  her about mapuches and Chilean literature. One day I explain what means “carrete” or “huevón” (in all its conjugations). She tought me how to say “cheers” in german. It is “Prost!”. I have to say the best part is here, because she loves the beer!!

A subject: Complementary art

I wanna talk you about a subject that I enjoyed at school. When I was in seventh grade maybe, I had to choose for first time a complementary subject. In general, my classmates chose the typical sport class. But I always have hated this kind of subjects. I began to go to complementary art, even when this was not allowed in my level. I don’t remember how I could enter in this class. Probably I begged to the teacher. However,   I runned away from sports, successfully.
The teacher was an old lady that I am not sure how much artist she was. She opened the classroom door and left us alone. On the other side, I didn’t know anyone of my classmates. They were older than me and they made disturbs when the lady went out. I was the only one interested in the class. For five hours at week, I was alone with my pen, my notebook and my imagination.
I learned a lot of things, but by my own. I drew dinosaurs, landscapes and robots. One day the teacher gave me a notebook full of desert landscapes. I remember thinking “this is in a professional level”. It was the first time that I saw a work like that, in real paper. She said “copy it” and that was what I did.  It was really fun.

I had normal arts classes too, but I didn´t like making things with the teacher’s supervision or while anyone looking around. I think it is a personal thing. That kind of thinking has produced many troubles in workshop, where I had to create and share my work to all my classmates and teachers while I dying of shame L. In the other hand,  I think that subject helped me to develop the passion for the arts that finally bring me here.

An old friend of mine

I am going to talk you about my best friend since I was in high school (ten years ago). I met him probably the second month of class. I was a solitary kid until know him, but we had so many things in common that was easy to be the best friends. I thing the first time we spoke was in a break. He was spoken about anime but nobody was interesting except me, a little otaku kid. Since then we share a lot of time together making otaku’s things: we drew in class and compared our works, we form a freaky club with people from high school even we recorded a podcast with freaky comments! X.x
Jonathan went to Santiago to live with his mother and we were separate a couple of years. He was in an artistic career (art professor,  camera man lately) and I was in a healthy one. Our ways diverged, but when I enter to architecture we were closed again.

I thing we make a great duo because we have the same twisty sense of humor and taste for the culture (movies, music, tv shows) and we are different kind of person at same time. He is very sociable and i´m not, for example. That is my theory of a deep friendship.

Childhood and "chileaness"?

A lot of time ago, when i was an inoccent kid (that doesn''t have any idea about the patriotism like a instrument of social control) i really enjoyed the existance of a "period of time, when people is possesed by an abstract idea about being part of something bigger" because this meant to me the opportunity of eating the best empanadas (from my mom), travel to the countryside and enjoy the nature, flying kites (a real zen teraphy) or just be quiet and see how the city changes of color, like a giant artistic intervention. Ignoring the fact that patritism is an illusion and we all are evolving in that joke (xD) i really liked to be a chilean guy.
I remember when i had four years maybe, i went to the ramadas with my grandma and my older brother. We both were little kids and she lost us in middle of a lot of people. My brother (seven years) was in charge and he feeded us even without money. He talked with the sellers like a big guy, because he could not admit that he was a little kid and we were losted. The people suspect this and gave us free food. My brother knew how talk. At the end of the day (after five hours maybe?) we talking with an animator and he spoke by megaphone. My grandma was really shooked the whole five hours. Good times really.
This is the good part of being chilean. To have a lot of sweet memories before the inevitable hate against the system lol

Who is Enzomirko??

Enzomirko was born in Vilcún, Araucanía, Chile. That guy studied an X career in Temuco a couple of years, but finally, he migrates to Santiago to discover his real passion: The architecture. Or maybe not. Anyway, that guy learned some interesting things related, like arts and drugs. In his free time, he studied the culture around him. Photography and literature, the masters of painting. That ultimate thing probably defines him: a frustated painter. Anyway, you can see part of his legacy in Instagram or this blog. Read between lines and you will probably understand the meaning of the life! Enjoy!

Blog review

This semester, some blogs were more interesting than others were. Writing is fun in Spanish, but writing in English is a little complicated. It helps the fact that we have to write about a personal topic like a toy, a hobbie, a tv programme. In “a tv programme you enjoyed as a child”, I talk about Naruto and I realized that was very important to me in my childhood (I had never stopped to think about it). This blog was very interesting to reading, because we all saw similar tv shows like anime and cartoons. I remember reading the christi’s blog when she talk about Pokémon. The Chilean culture spin around the tv, so we all understand each other when we talk about it. In the same way “A toy” makes me to remember things that I completely forgot.

I think the most complicated post was talk about a city, because it was the least personal blog. I had to read about it in Wikipedia and it was not fun. When we had to talk about a phone app, there was few possibilities and everyone talks about Instagram or Spotify.

The thing I disliked was writing the comments because nobody finished their post at time or always the same people did it. Whatever, I think the blog is a good tool to learn English, because without the pressure of writing about a boring topic, I can prove myself how much I can understand this language week to week (each time easily).

A toy: Max Steel.

When i was a child i had not many toys, because we was tree brothers and one new toy means the war between us. But some day when i was eight (christmas maybe) a fríend of my dad gave him the favourite toy of all kids: Max Steel. A muscle man, caucasian, stereotype of an awesome guy. For some reason, he gave it to me. I was fascinated.
I remember playing with Max Steel in the school. I had a friend who was only son, so he had many toys. One of its was the historical enemy of Max (the f*ckin “Action Man”) so we met in my house and fought in the yard. My friend had many accesories. A completly arsenal. I could not buy it, so, i made my own weapons and accesories. I made a lot of guns with plastiline and some sticks. With an egg carton and color paper i made a kind of spaceship. A failed experiment was the parachuted. I  sewed some nylon bags and tied to Max to finally threw it to the emptiness, but the system never worked L
Probably Max is in a dirty box in a dark place in my house in the south. I do not know really.

A phone app: Aldiko Book Reader

Until 2011, when i wanted to read something, i had to go to the library and get a book. Sometimes big or heavy books. But one day, a friend of mine told me about a new application, a really confortably e-reader: this was Aldiko Book Reader.
Aldiko is a free app who use a format called “epub”. The epubs are small archives who contains entire books. The difference with the PDFs is the versatility of the archive. You can move easily between the pages, to adjust the size of the characters and save the interesting parts. It is like to have an entire library in the cellphone. The first month i read the entire saga of “the song of ice and fire”. I traveled three hours every day to my previous university, so i could read a hundred pages every day approximately, for many years. My younger brother installed the app when he was a Little kid, so you can imagine how many e-pubs he read. I like it because there are a lot of interesting books, the classics and the news and there is not excuses to not read it.
Currently i have not many time, so is difficult to me try to read, but i keep trying. Last night i was reading Julio Cortazar’s “Rayuela” and i could not to do it without Aldiko. I ignored if there are more apps like that, but should be difficult to me to change my favourite app <3

A special place: The Ñielol Hill

Temuco has its own natural treasure. A kind of metropolitan Park who not everyone knows. It is located in the north of the city, crossing an avenue, with a half-hidden access. The Ñielol hill is the biggest hill in the city (there are others, but they aren´t a natural reserve) and the most beautiful.
I remember I had no idea where it was located, until when I was in high school and I went to explore with my friends.  Since that day, I climb the hill in many special times with friends and my girlfriend.
The climbing is hard. You can walk by a central path and lose yourself in many parts of the way. This is the interesting part. In that moment, the Selva Valdiviana shows its entire splendor. An infinite forest of giant coigues, climbing plants and colihues. All in green. Like no other place. In some locations, there are evidence of the mapuche’s history. The most important I think, is a group of chemamull near of the top. This giants and anthropomorphic totems remember the day where the Chilean and mapuche people agree to found the city of Temuco in 1881.
The Ñielol Hill had many balconies to rest, child games, a little museum and a restaurant at the top. But how I said, the best form of know it is losing on it.

Something i like to do outside: the street photography

I always like the photography, but i had not a good camera “a professional camera”, so, for a long time, i just feed my eyes with referents. A couple of years ago i saw a documentary about the Street photography. The art of go out, look in the city and captured it. Does not matter to have or not a expensive camera. Only matter the moment.

The hard part of the street photography is dealing with the people. With people that you don’t know. Taking pictures with a cellphone is a good idea, because its are in all places. People can deal with it. Sometimes is difficult pay attention and at the end of the day, i don’t even have one good image. Sometimes the image arrives alone. “the photographic moment” and i only have to captured it.

I like the Street photography because it makes you walk a lot around the city, to know its alleys, the different perspectives of the same place. The last time i walked without direction for Santiago Centro, a place full of life and movement. To walk for the Alameda or Persa is terapeutical when open your eyes. Even in subway or microbus you can do it. If i buy a camera, probably i will do pictures with better resolution

A rat's hobby

When i was in high school, a group of friends usually played computer games in recess. They always played something different, but this game impressed to me in the way that i never played another one after it. This game is called Age of empires II. I always said that is like playing chess, but more complex. On this game, you are the King of a medieval civilization, like persian, england or japanese. You command your people to collect nature resources, to explore the map, to build your city and to prepared they weapons. All its against time, because the enemy (the computer or another guy) eventually is going to attack you. The design of the game recreates a mediaval war. You can see horses, swordsmen, castles, catapults even  elephants! Like in the lord of the ring or game of thrones.

I always plays age of empires in summer, in the days that i have nothing to do with my life. Usually a game envolves a couple of hours, so is not very healthy playing every day. Sometimes is a really headache trying to keep your Civilization alive, but every time its easily. You learn about strategy and history, so, this game is not completly a waste of time.

A TV Programme i enjoyed as a Child: La ley de la Selva

i always liked the documentaries about the animal life, but in the open TV there was really few programmes about it. In 90' there was a programme called Maravillozoo, but it was cancelled when i was very young. Lately, in 2000 (more or less) in Megavision started one of the most popular tv show in the decade: La ley de la Selva. The programme had four animators: three vets and one model. They talked about animals in different ways. Sometimes they traveled around the world showing the nature, in other episodes they went to the zoo or examinated some random animals in the studio. I liked how they tought about animals in a funny way.

At the end of the decade, the programme was dying gradually. First, they started to talk frecuently about pets. They did not even tought something, they just spoke and spoke about cats and dogs. Second, the programme incorporated ufology in its contents. This destroyed the scientific responsibility of the programme. At the end, La ley de la Selva just showed a group of men competing in archery, force or balance.

However, i will never forget how much they tried to teach us about the danger of the insects, the nature’s respect and its beauty in general.

Marrakech. An exotic city.

I’d like to visit a lot of places for the architecture like Venice, Tokyo, New York, but a city that I think is a real fairy tale is Marrakech. It is a city completely different of the others. This is placed in Africa and is separated from Europe only for the Mediterranean sea, in a country called Morocco. This location creates a unique culture, one of the most exotic places in the world. The population is muslim, but they can speak Spanish too. I think it is a perfect city to wander, make some pictures and eat some stranger food.
I would like to visit the museum-house of Claudio Bravo. This was the best Chilean painter in the history. The man was in loved of Marrakec
h. He painted the people, their culture and their colors, and collected many exotic objects from Africa.

I think my girlfriend would like to visit Marrakech too. She loves the photography and this place full of colors could inspired her as much as inspired to me.

2018: América Paz and the Chilean Funk

In 2018 i can not remember a new song of the bands that i follow. Generally i listen the classics, but in summer i listened a chilean song from America Paz, called "La Pera". I think i listened this song in Instagram first, when she share advancements by herself. America Paz is a master of bass that i have followed for internet. She is not very popular in the musical industry, but i think she is a kind of Jaco Pastorious feminine (and chilean)  She plays jazz and blues in streets bands, but this time she write this song with a lot of funk like RHCP or Chancho en Piedra. Inmediatly i loved this song. "La Pera" is a summation of great elements. It starts with a grotesque and hard bass solo and a soft guitar strumming. The instrumental remember the original 80th funk music, with sintetized sounds. But the best part is the sweet voice of America Paz. The lyrics are very simple, but with a great message: you have to dance the funk if you want to be happy. At the end, the song finished with the colaboration of Lalo Ibeas in the voice. You can find this song in Youtube or Spotify. Follow her. She is amazing.

Eighteen years old

In high school, i made a lot of good friends, but after two years, in 2010 i decided to change of school, from padre las Casas to Temuco. In my new course, i had not real friends like in the other one. Nobody knew when was my birthday on this site. In my house is not very important the birthday celebration (we all are grinchs) but this time was going to be my eighteen, i felt it had to be different, but it did not depends of me.
The day arrives and i went to class like ever. Later, i join with my best friend (from my previous school) and we walked to nowhere from hours (like ever). the night fell and i tried to go home, but my friend stopped me: the party started at ten o´clock. this was in the house of other friend and they invited all the other guys of Padre las Casas. This was a real surprise to me. In fact, they had called to my mom a couple of days before and made all the arrangements. The food and drink was very simple, but was the best. They gave me a mug with images of my favourite band on this time. A japanese band. In that time we were healthy kids yet, so the party was very innocent, with video games, coca cola and cookies. Now i still join with my best friend and between the drugs, the rock n' roll and violence, i can remember that time when we were so innocent.
